Harry L. Gerrard papers, 1916-1917

A small collection of papers written by Harry L. Gerrard of Company E, 5th Infantry Regiment of the Massachusetts National Guard, to his parents, 1916-17, while traveling from Massachusetts to El Paso, Texas for the Punitive Expedition against Mexico. Gerrad's letters describe becoming acclimted to Texas weather, happenings around camp, patrols, and soldier life. There are also two letters written while on active duty as corporal of Company E, 101st Infantry Regiment in France during World War I. Also included are American Legion membership cards, Yankee Division history pamphlet, and newspaper clippings.
